Writing, Message Development & Design

Message development? What's that?

It’s what should be guiding every single communication that your organization sends out into the world each day. Whether it’s an email, a brochure or an ad, each of these is a sample of your organization's values, purpose and professionalism in miniature.

My job is to make sure that your audience receives the right impression, the right signal.

Avoid the stress.

Writing is one of those things we are all taught and expected to do perfectly. But it’s not as easy as that. Sure, we can all jog a few paces, but not everyone can (or wants) to run a marathon.

When it comes to writing, I’m a marathon runner, a sprinter, a long-jumper. I can do it all, whether it’s a newsletter, an annual report or any of the many written materials that are key to marketing and promotional activities.

When it comes to messaging, looks matter.

How a message looks - pretty or ugly - has an immediate impact on your audience.

When you hire me to develop your messaging, I not only work with the content (ideas and words), but the medium, too. This means I can really take a project from concept to final execution. That means less stress for you, not to mention less money.

Chris White

Very early on in life, my fascination for the millions of messages and communications that go on everyday led me to figure out how they work. Words, spoken or written, are still the most advanced human technology - how in the world can a two-dimensional shape move your brain and tongue to a sound that carries meaning? And even more amazing, how do we each know so instinctively how to use this very intricate technology?

I’m not a hot-shot ad man who will point to million-dollar profit marks. Instead, I’d rather show you the really interesting, worthwhile communications I’ve helped my clients create and deliver to diverse audiences. From advocates for better mental healthcare to reporters at local papers to school business officers (to name only a few), I’ve crafted messages that have reached very different kinds of people.

The medium is the message

First and foremost, I am a writer. However, over the past three years I’ve learned a variety of skills to put into my toolbox. This has allowed me to really master the "medium," whether it’s a print ad, a web banner or a strategy for a pr campaign. With these skills, I’m able to take a project from concept to final production, working closely with a client to craft and shape the work organically.
